Classification
(1) Purpose-based classification: Carbon steel is categorized into three primary types-carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel, and free-cutting structural steel. Further, carbon structural steel is divided into engineering construction steel and machine manufacturing structural steel, each serving distinct functional needs.
(2) Smelting method-based classification: Carbon steel production involves various methods such as the open hearth steel process and converter steel process, each with unique smelting techniques.
(3) Deoxidation method-based classification: This includes boiling steel (F), killed steel (Z), semi-killed steel (b), and special killed steel (TZ), each distinguished by distinct deoxidation processes that influence the steel's final properties.
(4) Carbon content-based classification: Carbon steel is segmented into low carbon steel (WC ≤ 0.25%), medium carbon steel (WC 0.25%-0.6%), and high carbon steel (WC > 0.6%), each offering unique characteristics and suitability for various applications.

Common Steel Grades and Their Uses:

T12, T13: Perfect for manufacturing tools impervious to impacts, including files, scrapers, razors, and measuring tools.
Carbon steel plates are widely utilized materials, categorized into ordinary low carbon steel plates and special steel plates. This includes low alloy high strength steel and corrosion and heat-resistant clad steel plates. Ordinary low-carbon steel sheets come in cold-rolled and hot-rolled varieties. Cold-rolled sheets, prized for their exceptional surface quality and precise thickness, are predominantly used in car body fabrication. Hot-rolled sheets find their applications mainly in manufacturing sturdy frames and similar structures.
